Ebenezer Baptist Church is where a group of Christians, committed to Christ and each other meet together regularly. Our church building is in Union Street, Melksham (down the alley just left after the chip shop). We are an Independent Evangelical Baptist Church. Our main Sunday services are 11.00am & 6.00pm. We are a varied group of people in age and background, but what we do have in common is a life of faith in Jesus Christ. We want to learn more about Jesus together and to spread the good news that Jesus came to die on the cross to take away our sins and that He rose again from the dead showing that He had defeated sin and death.
We want to have a living relationship with the living God through his Son, Jesus Christ. We believe that God speaks to us through the Bible and it teaches that we are to worship Him with the whole of our lives. When we meet together as a church for worship we seek to be faithful and sincere without being stuffy. However, because we come before a Holy God, we aim to be reverent in our worship.
Evangelical means we aim to base our lives upon the teaching of the Bible and therefore seek to:
Live our lives to the praise of God our Creator and Saviour
Understand and teach God's Word for God's World
Learn to live to care for one another
Take the Gospel and practical help to a world in need
We also meet during the week for Bible study and prayer on a Wednesday evening at the church at 7.30pm. It gives us another opportunity to learn about what the Bible teaches and also to pray for those individuals whom we know are in need and also for those around the world that need our prayers.
